1️⃣ Choose your topic
Just because you’re “documenting” doesn’t mean you’re not creating content. It’s just a version of creating that is predicated more on practicality instead of having to think of stories or fantasy—something that’s very hard for most people (including myself).I believe that the people who are willing to discuss their journeys instead of trying to front themselves as the “next big thing” are going to win. —Gary Vaynerchuk
People don’t read one blog over another because of the topic. People read blogs that they connect with (and that are well-written, of course). Your unique voice and perspective will come through no matter what topic you’re writing about. —Thomas Frank, College Info Geek
When people call something “original”, nine out of ten times they just don’t know the references or the original sources involved. —Jonathan Lethem
What a good artist understands is that nothing comes from nowhere. All creative work builds on what came before. Nothing is completely original. —Austin Kleon, Steal Like An Artist
What’s obvious to you is amazing to others. —Derek Sivers, Hell Yeah or No
2️⃣ Preventing a writer’s block
3️⃣ Overcoming a writer’s block
- Personally, I find it difficult to type even ugly words without deleting them after one sentence and retyping the whole thing.
- To fix this, I write (with pen and paper/on an iPad) instead of type. Because writing is slower than typing, it gives me more time to think and be more mindful of the words coming out.
- I feel more connected with my inner voice too :D
- If you often find it hard to write at home, try the library, café etc.
- You may discover a new spot conducive to writing.
- If sitting doesn’t work, try standing and even moving around as you write.
