Be selfless — make something your audience want.
- To do this, you can use a poll prefilled with a few template ideas, then let your audience choose what they want. This is ideal if you have a huge no. of followers.
- If you have a small account or just starting out,
- use #notiontwt for a bot retweet and reach more people!
- ask in Notion communities on Twitter, Reddit, Facebook etc.
What problem is your template trying to solve?
Consider what app you can replicate in Notion.
- One may wonder,
- But, consider the greatness of having the features of multiple apps all in one place (Notion). You can link one thing to another, integrate similar systems, and tailor things to your needs.
- Ready-made apps are usually low in flexibility. There may be things you want or don’t want, but you can’t change things up freely. Notion gives you better freedom to do the opposite.
- Consider Goodreads. You probably just want a way to track the books you plan to read, are reading, and have read. You don’t care about the book rankings, reading challenges and reviews, but there’s no way to remove them from Goodreads and keep only the book-tracking feature.
- Having your own book tracker in Notion allows you to tailor things to your need. No features you don’t need. No format you don’t find attractive.
- P.S. Check out my book tracker, Reading Corner📕
Why waste time setting things up in Notion when there’s already a ready-made app for it?
Try something unique!
Be selfish — make something YOU want.
- I wanted a way to track the books I am reading, have read & want to read. There are lots of templates out there (even Notion has an official one), but it feels better to have one tailored to my needs. So, I built one.
- If the template works for you, you don’t only have something to launch, but a practical and realistic one because you’ve been using yourself and improving it over time.
- What would potential users think of a template you’re also using? They have more confident in its quality and the update frequency. Voila, more sales.
If it doesn't work even for you, it most likely won't work for another person.
Try something common first!
